Would a man and van be suitable for you?
For a more versatile service that can offer more than just delivery, a man and van could be more suitable for your transportation needs. The smaller, self-employed companies on Shiply can often offer a flexibility and variety of services that the larger vehicle provider can’t.
Other man and van services
Small removals: For those smaller or more informal moves that don’t need a large or specialist vehicle, a man and van could be a suitable size for your items to get from A to B.
Packing and unpacking: If you anticipate potential difficulties at either end of your delivery, you may prefer the peace of mind that comes with having an extra pair of hands (or more than one) for those heavy items and packing woes.
Furniture assembly: Man and van companies can also assist with furniture assembly if you’d like to save time or if you think you’ll struggle without an experienced eye.
Heavy lifting: Our transport companies are used to dealing with heavy loads. If you think you’ll struggle to lift something yourself or would rather not risk injury, let the professionals do it for you.
Operating specialist tools and equipment: Experienced professionals will have all sorts of tools and specialist equipment. If you’ve got something tricky that needs doing, a man and van could do that for you - just make sure that you communicate your requirements with them in advance of accepting a quote.

Choosing your provider
Let them come to you: With a large number of man and van services around, the choice can be overwhelming and you would be forgiven for thinking it’ll be too time-consuming to approach them all individually. Putting a listing on Shiply will reduce unnecessary time looking for a provider and allow potentially thousands of companies to send a quote for your listing.
Communicate your requirements: Once you have received a range of quotes, it is important to get in touch with a few to outline the service(s)you’d like them to provide, the company’s experience with this, and the proximity of the provider to where you need them to be (shorter distances may reduce costs further). It is also highly recommended that you ask about their insurance cover. Although we check all of our providers before approving them on Shiply, you may still like to check this to help inform the decision-making process.
Accept the quote: Once you have chosen a company for your delivery, keep in touch with them in the lead up to the scheduled delivery date and time so both parties are clear on how the day is likely to unfold.
Preparing for your delivery
Be ready - Check that everything is securely packed and fragile goods are appropriately wrapped so they are protected for the duration of the journey. You may even want to take photographs of the condition of your items before packing them in case of needing to contact your insurance company in the unlikely event that damages occur. Man and van businesses should have goods in transit insurance covering up to a total value of £10,000 of items.
Keep in touch with your provider - Make sure you have communicated with the transport provider and have all the information you need to ensure a smooth-running delivery and minimise the stress on the day. Both you and the transport provider should know what to expect on arrival in case any specialist equipment is needed or extra time needs to be factored in for packing or assembly.
